Terrain is a gardening store concept by Urban Outfitters Inc. The complex consists of nine buildings including a Spa, Café, Home Décor Building, Greenhouse, Hardware Barn and Amendment Shed. The challenge was to integrate the vernacular of the traditional farm with a more contemporary architectural language. We integrated blackened steel and heavy lumber with a reclaimed wood screen system that extends throughout the site. A steel framed fence of woven willow whip branches frames each of the two entrances and creates a unique and memorable identity.
