The deep entry portal creates a threshold between the grand central staircase and the new EOA designed store, a clean and modern design that offers a counterpoint to the ornate Beaux Arts architecture of the museum. Glass vitrines built into the wall at the store entrance allow for precious and valuable objects to be showcased. Modular and moveable fixtures provide flexibility as the store’s merchandise rotates to correspond with art exhibitions. A large graphic wall panel depicts a photograph of the store from 1921 to pay homage to the building’s rich history and is interchangeable to reflect the seasons or important exhibitions in the Museum.
