Proposal 1 - terraccotta tubing with perforated wave screens

Woodward Avenue Proposal Detroit MI

EOA proposed two concept designs to renovate a highly visible office building on the central corridor of Woodward Avenue in Detroit Michigan. Inspired by the existing architecture of the city, one concept used a perforated wavy metal screen to hold terracotta tubes. The second was sheathed in a sculpted screen of copper that would patina over time. Both ideas created shade and spaces for cafes and pedestrian circulation, activating the street and blurring the inside/outside edge.
