Street Spirit

An island house, built for a couple with two grown daughters, is set into the sloping coast of Penobscot Bay, Maine. Sculptural angled roofs are a response to the dramatic geography of the area. The house is organized around an intimate garden courtyard bordered by the main entry path. Spaces are arranged into discreet yet connected pavilions The master suite is located in the main part of the house overlooking the large deck on the bay.. A family room attached to the glass walkway connects the main house with the sleeping pavilions. The setting sun is a focal point, visible from the garden and through the house..
